Simply answer a few multiple choice questions about your existing boiler and we’ll give you a fixed price for a new boiler including all parts and installation
Thanks to the government’s energy efficiency goals, people all over the country may be able to have a new boiler installed in their home free of charge or at a heavily discounted rate.
Essentially, the newer the boiler, the more efficient it’ll be, so it’s in the government’s best interests that your home is an energy-saving machine!
Grants for boilers are amounts of money awarded to allow you to replace your current boiler without having to fork out for a new one all by yourself.
The grants are there for those with limited access to the kind of cash needed for a new boiler to help them save both money and energy when their current model isn’t energy-efficient any more.
It’s all down to the government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, which is an energy efficiency initiative that aims to reduce fuel poverty and decrease carbon emissions. Because of this, big energy companies have been told they have to help British homes improve their energy efficiency. Boiler grants are one of the ways they are doing this.
You could qualify for a free boiler grant or money towards a new boiler, depending on your household income.
And if you are eligible for a grant you don’t have to worry about paying the grant back either – there are no repayments and no complicated terms and conditions to catch you out.
If the temptation of a free or discounted boiler isn’t enough, there are potential money-saving capabilities it could offer you in the years to come.
Having a new, more efficient boiler installed could save you money on your bills – even as much as £350 a year, according to the Energy Saving Trust. It should reduce your carbon footprint too, so you’ll know you’re helping the environment as well.
Applying for a boiler grant is a very straightforward process, so you needn’t worry about the application. All you need to do is contact an energy provider and they’ll conduct a free assessment. You can get in touch with any provider that is offering the deal; it doesn’t have to be the company that currently supplies your household.
You can be either a homeowner or a private tenant, however funding is unfortunately not available to people living in council-owned properties – however, local authorities may have their own schemes though.
Your current boiler has to be at least five years old. If your current boiler is newer than this but is inefficient, it could be more cost effective to have your boiler repaired, rather than get a new one.
The amount of money you could receive will depend on your income. For example, a household earning £20,000 per year is likely to qualify for a larger amount than a household earning double this amount.
Besides your income, you will also be assessed on how energy-efficient your home currently is. The worse your carbon footprint, the more likely you are to receive a grant.
In addition to the criteria above, to qualify for an entirely free boiler, your household will likely be receiving benefits.
You’ll automatically qualify if you receive either Pension Credit or Child Tax Credits, and you may also satisfy the criteria if you receive any of the following benefits:
If you are successful in your application for a boiler grant, you will receive a new boiler, which will be installed in your home. Please be aware that you may also need brand new heating controls to work alongside your new boiler.
If you do, then this will often be included in the grant, so you won’t usually have to pay any extra for this added luxury. However, in a small amount of cases will a small contribution from you be required.
In order to find out if you are eligible for a boiler grant please contact an energy supplier who is offering this scheme. Help-Link UK Limited cannot offer this scheme direct to customers. For further information, please visit: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/environmental-programmes/eco/about-eco-scheme
