Do I need Planning permission ?
Generally speaking planning permission will not be required for the majority of homeowners, as solar panels fall within ‘permitted development rights’, basically they should not project beyond the existing surface by more than 150mm/approx 6 inch or exceed the height og the highest part of the roof.
However, if you property is Listed, is in a Conservation Area or Area of Outstanding Beauty it is likely that planning permission will be required and the Customer will be responsible for making relevant enquires and or obtaining necessary permission.
What Maintenance is needed ?
Very minimal, cleaning the panel may need a wipe dependant on its location (near trees) but Help-Link’s Solar Combi boiler solution is maintenance free,
Some of the panels we've tested suggest regular checks of the panels and connections or a wipe of the panel glass with mild detergent. Bear in mind how difficult this will be when panels are up on your roof.
Can the panel be fitted anywhere on my roof?
To achieve maximum efficiency solar panels need to be mounted south-facing and be away from any other obstruction/shadows, buildings, trees, chimneys, etc.
Can my existing boiler be fitted to a new solar system ?
The Help-Link Solar Combi incorporates high quality as well as revolutionary components, such as brass components instead of plastic, this demonstrating the high quality of this appliance. However, the key matter with retro fitting is the number of inferior boiler manufacturers and the question of whether components can accept pre heated hot water.
We believe a solution can be found to the majority of households.
