The cause of inefficient systems continues with the corrosion of pipe work and basically any part of a central heating system that the water has contact with. All central heating systems incorporate metal (ferrous) materials, and when these are in constant contact with water corrosion occurs. With all systems it is essential that the water is treated with an inhibitor, this ensures the water does not breakdown into the dreaded black sludge, sludge that makes systems work harder and therefore use more gas.

Please note that from April 2005 all new boilers must be Condensing, this ensures that emissions are at the highest possible from the appliance.
