Solar Power Hot Water Solutions

Solar powered hot water has become increasingly popular in recent years as fuel bills have become increasingly high. Solar panels can supply between 50-70% of all your annual hot water needs and will seriously reduce the cost of your utility bills. Because of the reduction in the bills you'll be paying, you can expect that your solar panels will have paid for themselves in approximately 10 years, and with government funding to help you finance the installation, solar powered hot water can be even more affordable than you think.

Worcester Greenskies solar panels harness the power in both direct and diffused sunlight, converting the energy into heat, to produce hot water for the home. These solar panels have been designed to complement your existing central heating system, but remain separate from your boiler heating system. The panels are mounted on a surface which is selected for its exposure to sunlight and usually connected, via pipe work, to the lower coil of a twin-coil solar cylinder.

The energy in the sun's rays are absorbed by the panel and the heat is transferred into the pipe work in the absorber plates. The pipe work is filled with a ready-mixed liquid, containing glycol and water, which is circulated by a pump to the coil in the hot water cylinder. The heat is deposited in the storage cylinder and the glycol returns to the panel to absorb more free solar energy.
