At Help-Link we understand the market and most importantly those manufacturers providing high quality products alongside excellent support, not simply engineers but also production time of parts for the future. Too many manufacturers have limited production runs and similar replacement part runs, this impacting on life time costs! A key consideration for all buyers of central heating systems and hot water systems. You may also be intrested in looking at our Warm Front heating grants to see if your entitled to any help with the cost.
Having the right appliance for your home is essential and too many companies simply apply what is the best deal to them and that is profit driven! All companies work to make profit but equally important to Help-Link is the relationship achieved through any completed work. This is also why we provide gas central heating cover
All our new boilers come in different sizes to suit different houses. Prices vary by hundreds of pounds depending on the size you need.

Gas Boilers
Worcester's Greenstar gas boilers have been designed to blend in with other domestic appliances. Available in combi, regular and system types, Worcester's gas condensing boilers run at 90% (or over) efficiency. All our regular and system boilers are also compatible with Worcester Greenskies solar panels.
Conventional Boiler
This heats up the water for your central heating system. The pump circulates water through the pipes and radiators. Cooled water then returns to the boiler where it's reheated.
Combination Boiler
This saves space as it does the work of both a central heating boiler and a hot water system cylinder. It also saves money as it produces hot water on demand, rather than storing it. On the downside, heating water on demand can be slow, so it can take a while to fill a bath, particularly if you're running water elsewhere in the house. And it's not usually suitable for use with power showers.
Condensing Boiler
Both conventional and combination boilers are available as condensing boilers. These are more energy efficient, as they capture the heat that's normally lost from the flue. The Energy Saving Trust estimates you can cut fuel bills by 32 per cent by replacing a 15-year-old boiler with a new condensing type. Installing a condensing boiler can cost £250 to £300 more than a conventional one. But you should be able to recoup this eventually on reduced fuel bills. You can also receive a grant to help you pay for one. Condensing boilers give off a large plume of water vapour but, if the boiler and flue are sited correctly, this shouldn't be a problem. Regular maintenance of this type of boiler is particularly important as sludge can build up and cause problems.
Here are a few examples and guidelines to think about and help you identify the type of condensing boiler most likely suited to your needs.
| Consideration | Most Suitable Boiler |
| You want to use your loft space for a room conversion or other purpose | COMBI |
| You live in a flat or bungalow (i.e. have very little or no roof space) | COMBI |
| Your home has more than 2 bathrooms | REGULAR OR SYSTEM |
| Your main water pressure is low | REGULAR OR SYSTEM |
| You want to replace an old boiler to improve an existing conventional central heating system | REGULAR, SYSTEM or COMBI |
| There is a need to have hot water available on tap without waiting for it to heat up. | COMBI |
Oil Boilers
Worcester's oil-fired boilers are available in combi, regular and system models. We offer high efficiency Greenstar condensing models, which operate to at least 90% efficiency (compared with many older boilers that can be as little as 50% efficient). All of the regular and system boilers are also compatible with Worcester Greenskies solar panels.
Worcester Bosh now offer a FREE 5 YEAR MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY on all Oil-Fired Boilers!
LPG Boiler & Systems
Worcester's gas boilers are available as LPG versions or can be modified by installing an LPG conversion kit. Available in combi, regular and system types, our Greenstar LPG condensing boilers operate to at least 90% efficiency. All regular and system boilers are compatible with Worcester Greenskies solar panels
Oil & LPG - A Comparison
| What is LPG? Liquefied Petroleum Gas accounts for 1.5% of the UK's energy consumption. It is the generic name for propane and butane and is manufactured during the refining of crude oil. |
What is Oil? Heating oil is a petroleum product used as a domestic fuel. Oil is 2nd only to natural gas in its consumption. |
| LPG Installation Cost For most domestic users there are two options for storage either bulk tanks or single/multi cylinder installations. LPG boilers and storage tanks are significantly cheaper than for oil. |
LPG Installation Cost For most domestic users there are two options for storage either bulk tanks or single/multi cylinder installations. LPG boilers and storage tanks are significantly cheaper than for oil. |
| LPG Running Cost LPG is known to be one of the more expensive rural fuels yet recent research suggests prices may not be quite as high as previously thought. |
Oil Running Cost Low running costs is perhaps the one main advantage of heating oil over LPG although due to excessive setup costs it can take between 7 and 10 years to see any savings. |
| Environmental Safety of LPG Since it was introduced in Britain in the 1930's LPG's reputation has never suffered from a single pollution incident. While oil is responsible for 4,500 incidents every year. |
Environmental Safety of Oil The fact that new regulations have had to bought into force to combat oil pollution tells its own story. There are just 3,000 official oil installers in the UK and a lot of people working as oil installers who shouldn't be. |
| Usability of LPG As with natural gas, heat from LPG is instantly available and temperature easily controllable. It uses the same type of appliances, fittings and pipings as natural gas. It burns cleanly, without soot or sulphur emissions. LPG's versatility makes it an all-round fuel for heating and cooking. |
Usability of Oil Heating oil is very popular for domestic heating but for most other uses e.g. cooking, there should be great reservations. One benefit of using heating oil is the ability to change suppliers. So if you are unhappy with prices and service you can swap without too much hassle. |
The bottom line is that an LPG installation costs on average £2,000 less than the Oil equivalent. The additional costs for an Oil installation means that at current LPG and heating Oil prices it would take between 7 and 10 years before you would see any savings.
A Little More About Worcester Bosch Boilers
How Worcester Make Reliable Products? - "At Worcester, we are highly committed to ensuring both the reliability and quality of all of our products, which is why we consistently invest heavily in new product development and testing", says Steve Lister, Director of Sales for Worcester, Bosch Group. "All of our central heating appliances must complete a thorough testing programme. The new product development process includes a number of detailed stages, starting with the concept phase, where market research and analysis of potential products is carried out."
"Once a product idea is agreed and developed, a prototype will be created ready for field trials. These field trials will see the boiler tested in a variety of different conditions including: type of property, area of the country and water hardness. Trials always include a testing period of at least one winter and sometimes two or three."
"If the field tests are successful, all the components are 'pre-tested' in a constant test facility, which evaluates each element to guarantee the required level of quality.
"Finally, what is known at Worcester as a 'Z-test' is completed, which puts the boiler through a test rig run constantly to simulate 15 years of activity under highly accelerated conditions. The 'Z-test' also takes into consideration the flue arrangements, installation, gases, weather and contaminated system water."
"Our products are subject to internal and external testing by the appropriate governing bodies. Independent tests on boilers are conducted by a notified body and product surveillance is conducted by the British Standards Institute."
